This is large family owned home in the heart of Olvera which really harks back to bygone times when life was simple and the mule would live in the stable below, with room for their feed and produce for the family above in the grain stores, all of this remains intact in this sizeable property.
The house has a large double fronted facade with traditional heavy wooden front door which leads in to the archetype San Juan entrance lobby. beyond this we have a large living room and 2 double bedrooms a basic kitchen and bathroom. A terrace directly off the kitchen which has terrific views over the village and the far reaching mountains.there is also a small room under the stairs which used for storage right now. the whole house has nooks and crannies, textured ancient stone walls and some original floor tiles remain on this level too.
Up the winding staircase there are spacious roof height spaces with the original beams and bamboo ceilings , alcoves , openings, textured plaster and built grain storage bins. Lots of room for extra bedrooms and bathrooms up here, although it’s just been used for storage at the moment it has much potential. If you sacrificed part of the rear roof you would have the most amazing views from the terrace you could create here
down below the main floor there is the old stables with 3 separate spaces and a shady jasmine filled patio , big enough for a small plunge pool which would be totally private.
I really like this house, the street it is on and the friendly neighbours, there are views of the castle right from the doorstep and the pretty Corpus Christi procession passes by each year when the street is decked out with flowers and bunting. You could create a beautiful home and still maintain features and the charm with the right amount of imagination.
