We absolutely love this house, it is a very special house with great energy lots of old features and charm, Annemarie spent a lot of time with the owners creating what is there today, including lots of outside space and a cool dip pool to the rear of the house.
When you first enter into this house you have a large San Juan with built-in storage and also a built in bench, Fantastic old doors to the San Juan lead you into the property with a large sunset glass archway. From the moment you enter the house you will see the owners love of Moroccan features and furnishings this is apparent throughout the house, most of which would be staying upon agreement with the new owners.
The best thing to mention is when you open the second door you have a gorgeous view of not only arches and original tiles, but also down towards the shady lemon tree patio that is situated in the centre of the house. Of the entrance room you have a cosy sitting room with a log burner, this room is perfect in winter. Downstairs there are two bedrooms one to the front with a large bay window with window seat, as well as an traditional internal downstairs bedroom perfect for keeping cool in the middle of summer! There is also lots of storage space as well as an under stairs shower room complete with tiled seat, and window looking out towards the patio.
The kitchen is towards the rear of this part of the house with a kitchen diner with windows and doors looking over the Lemon tree patio, the kitchen is beautifully finished with hardwood worktops all handmade by local tradesmen in Olvera. There is a dishwasher as well as a fridge freezer cooker and hob. The dining area has patio doors out to the internal courtyard and seating space.
Upstairs you will find a gorgeous large living room with high ceilings and beams with low windows to the front allowing plenty of light, this room is used as a cinema room as well as formal dining room, office space and year round living has also has a log burner situated on this floor. The master bedroom and master bathroom are also situated to the back of this floor with lots of storage space, unusual for Spanish houses. The master bedroom has air conditioning, with both cold and hot air for year round use, it also has large windows again overlooking the patio below, with Lemon Tree, so you can hear the birds in the morning right outside your window, the owner also has a comfy reading space in this bedroom, perfect for warmer afternoons reading a book, or doing some work with the Aircon on. The master bathroom, has a large walk in shower as well as a lovely roll top bath with sky light above.
Upstairs again to the 3rd floor, and terraces you have a snug, with sofa bed – perfect for guests or family to stay over, but this house really comes into its own with the terraces, as you walk out onto the first balcony, with a quiet morning spot for coffee and toast, this then leads though to the larger terraces, one perfect for sunbathing and evening meals, while hidden around the corner is a perfect moroccan inspired covered terrace, absolutely perfect for an afternoon snooze in the shade. Did I not mention the views? Ohhh the views are arguably some of the best views in Olvera, with amazing sunsets from the terrace year round.
There is also a spiral staircase from here to a lower terrace, this is also accessed from the Lemon tree patio with a fixed staircase so you do not have to go all the way through the house you can go via the terraces and patios, Off the middle terrace is a guest suite with own shower room ensuite, and a window with those amazing views for your guests to enjoy.
Downstairs of the patio you have more storage and a utility room this then leads through to the gym although it could easily be a cosy sitting room with large windows overlooking the tip pole to the rear, the pool is very private, but still allows light through the light blocks on the wall. This house really does have to be seen to be appreciated as it certainly is one-of-a-kind.
The solar panels is a double-panel and the water tank is fitted with an electric heater for occasions when the sun doesn’t shine.
